Intimate visual poem about a bizarre journey, about my personal Odyssey...
In this work I'm in search for a resting point, in this ever-changing landscape, the layers of different textures, learning to deal with similarities but more importantly the differences in my existence. Living in a reality that sometimes can become as fluid as water, in which I am the drop. I'm thinking, often, too often. About this endless travel without final destination, which feels like a mysterious dream, in which being far away sometimes becomes too close, or vice versa.
About the intensity of looking around, meeting and loving people, but also say goodbye over and over again, with which I end up missing even the most important or interesting moments. Where can I find the one and only unified universe that will bring me peace? Where I can feel everything I cherish and everyone I love close to me without any distance?
Suddenly, I turn back into that drop that without resistance, flows naturally back into the green river, back on its way to the mouth.
As always, the camera is my faithful companion at my side. I like to rediscover the photographs of my own constructed, liquid Ithaca. What home means then becomes even more elusive than ever.
In 2023 this project was part of the 'De Terugkeer van Odysseus (the return of Odysseus)' of the group exhibition organized by Kappa at the ExpoG in Kapellen (near to Antwerp, Belgium)
