My name is Dirk Bouwen, I was born in Belgium (1961). Electronics, computers and imaging have all had a significant impact on my professional journey alongside interests in fine art.
After studying engineering, I pursued a fulfilling career in ICT, specialized in advanced engineering and visualization tools, application development, asset lifecycle management, LIDAR surveying techniques, virtual and augmented reality.
Today I'm only focussing on visual art projects. Beyond being a passionated street-photographer I like to work around particular social topics, deconstructing the complexity of our society in my performances to explore deeper human and personal backgrounds. I also obtained degrees in audiovisual arts and explore directions to develop my fine art and digital interests in a broader context. Photography is only one aspect of my creative output, alongside video, 3D art-installations, including the use augmented reality, printed work and social media.
