Our persona takes control
Over everything, every muscle in our face
Over the daily look we take
Over the image appearing in the mirror, the window,
Our persona also belongs to the viewer.
This freedom should last forever
For we remain unwitting actors
In a meaningless play
Unless our Freedom disappears...

Persona was an experimental project to explore the boundaries of our privacy.
Isolated images of people removed from their surroundings can create a highly theatrical effect, are even reminiscent of cinematic scenes.
The initial concept of Persona involved to experiment with a very random style street photography. In post-production software, I explored the pictures, zoomed-in to the tiniest details, searching for the 'unseen' and 'unnoticed' that I had captured (which was often a very surprising experience).  The following step in this process was to print these pixelated images and recapture them with instant film.  The layering not only obscures the subjects' faces but also embraces these images with an even stronger cinematic quality, transforming the mood entirely.
For this reproduction process, I used a vintage medium format camera with a Polaroid back and Fujifilm FP100C instant film. I consider this to be my final tribute to this remarkable film medium, and I have utilized the last two expired boxes.
